What is PMEA?
(From the PMEA website, pmea.net):
The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) is a statewide nonprofit organization of over 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians.
The present membership evolved from a small group of band directors dating from 1933. Today, the organization includes those engaged in music instruction at all levels, from preschool through college and university, as well as those in the music industry, merchandising and publishing. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education, NAfME.
(From Roz):
Since I am a member of this institution, all my students have access to the festivals that are hosted by the member schools and educators in the area. We are part of District 12, which is part of the larger Region 6. Students who audition successfully into District 12 Chorus* then have the opportunity to re-audition and move up into the more competitive Region 6 Chorus, and then again for PMEA State Conference. Students who make it to this point in the process have the opportunity to audition for NAfME's (National Association for Music Education) National Honors Choir**. How far will YOU go?

* Auditions are open to grades 10-12 only, except for 9th grade tenors. The organization has been historically low in tenor enrollment.
|
**National Honors Choir participants are chosen the year prior, so Senior students would be excluded from this opportunity.
